Core Features / Customer Portal

Customer Portal

The customer portal is the renter's side of RentBridge — where your customers browse equipment, request quotes, track rentals, and get support.

What Renters Can Do

  • Browse the equipment catalog — your available fleet, organized by category
  • Request a quote — priced live by the dynamic pricing engine, with duration discounts applied automatically
  • Add rental insurance — optional per-rental coverage from partner providers (see Rental Insurance)
  • Track rentals — from quote through reservation, pickup, and return
  • View invoices — payment history across all their rentals
  • Inspections — participate in pre- and post-rental condition inspections
  • Get support — the AI customer service agent answers questions 24/7, escalating to your team when needed

The Renter's Booking Flow

  1. Browse or search — renters find equipment by category, name, price, or location
  2. Request a quote — RentBridge computes the price: base rate × demand × season, minus duration discounts (5% at 3+ days, 10% at 1+ week, 20% at 4+ weeks)
  3. Review coverage options — four insurance products with exact premiums, or skip coverage
  4. Reserve — once you (or your auto-approval rules) accept, the equipment is committed
  5. Pick up, use, return — the rental tracks through the booking flow states

Rental Status for Customers

Status What the renter sees
Quote Pricing received; waiting on approval
Reserved Booking confirmed; equipment committed for their dates
Active Equipment picked up; rental in progress
Returned Equipment back; inspection and deposit release in progress
Closed All settled — deposit released (or applied against damage)
Cancelled Cancelled before pickup

The Renter Dashboard

Each customer gets a personal view of their rental relationship:

  • Active rentals — what's out now, with expected return dates
  • Rental history — every past rental with full detail
  • Spend analytics — spending over time and by category
  • Recommendations — equipment suggestions learned from their rental patterns (powered by the matching learning loop)

Deposits, from the Renter's Side

Security deposits are held in escrow while equipment is out. After a clean return inspection the deposit is released; if there's damage or an unpaid balance, some or all of it may be applied instead. Either way, the decision is recorded and visible on the rental.

Troubleshooting

Customers can't see equipment?

  • Verify the equipment status is "Available" — rented, maintenance, and retired units don't show
  • Check the rates are set (equipment without pricing can't be quoted)

Payment failing?

  • The customer should verify card details with their bank
  • Confirm your Stripe billing is in good standing
